A four-hour, two-night biography of the American show-business legend will debut in fall 2015 on "American Experience," PBS announced Tuesday. It's an appropriate forum because Disney, from his life to the movies to the theme parks, is an American experience. Walt Disney strikes a memorable pose for Edward Steichen in 1933. (Conde Nast Archive/Corbis / July 22, 2014) "Walt Disney" will be directed and produced by Sarah Colt ("Henry Ford," "RFK") and written by Mark Zwonitzer ("JFK," "Triangle Fire"). PBS teased that "the film features rare archival footage from the Disney vaults, scenes from some of his greatest films, and includes interviews with animators and artists who worked on 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' and Imagineers who helped design Disneyland ." Photos: 2014 ESPY Awards - Red carpet arrivals Disney World wasn't mentioned in the release announcement, but the approach to Disney sounds admiring. "Walt Disney is an entrepreneurial and cultural icon," said said Mark Samels, executive producer of "American Experience." "No single figure shaped American culture in the 20th century more than he," Samels added. The release offered this view of Disney: "A polarizing figure though true believers vastly outnumber his critics Disney's achievements are indisputable. He created one of the most beloved cartoon characters in history, Mickey Mouse; conceived the first ever feature-length animated film, 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'; pioneered the integration of media and marketing with thousands of branded products; invented the anthropomorphic wildlife documentary; and conceived Disneyland, the worlds first theme park and the fulfillment of a lifelong desire to create a world unto itself." What of Disney World? Stay tuned.

He travels frequently for his job as a sales rep for various skateboard and snowboard apparel companies, and he would often text back photos to his sisters, who range from 13 to 22 years old. Get on Snapchat, they told him, so he did. He used the app to draw funny doodles on top of his photos and sent them to his sisters who showed their friends, who added him in turn. As his following grew, he began taking it seriously, formed a business, and dedicated his time to sending out a high-quality Snapchat each day. Within a few months, his drawings had spread past local high schoolers to Reddit and a few online articles and caught the attention of marketing departments. Shaun McBride snapped Frozen-themed images for Disney earlier this month. One day when McBride was riding a ski lift in Colorado, Disney called. They asked him to come out to Disneyland and take over their official Snapchat account for 24 hours.

Through the SOS Children’s Village program the team donates jerseys and soccer equipment to kids in Ghana, Africa. To date they have donated more than 300 uniforms, and expect to send another 200 after the tournament at Disney, as well as some other Disney keepsakes. “Soccer is the sport but we really wanted to make them community leaders,” said coach Horwood. Helping fellow teammates in Africa is rewarding and raises their awareness of the world around them. Recently the girls received photographs of kids in Africa wearing their jerseys and playing with their equipment. “Growing up soccer has been kind of a lifestyle for me, something I really enjoy, giving the chance to give other kids in Africa the chance to play is fulfilling,” said Ajax FC defensive back Lauren Pugh. On behalf of everyone at Disney Soccer and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, I want to congratulate Ajax FC for their hard work on and off the pitch. My kids life is ruined. Ive devastated my parents because of bad judgment. Kingsolver, 49, is one of at least 35 Disney employees arrested since 2006 and accused of sex crimes involving children, trying to meet a minor for sex, or for possession of child pornography, according to a six-month CNN investigation that examined police and court records, and interviewed law enforcement officials and some of the men who have been arrested. Five Universal Studios employees and two employees from SeaWorld have also been arrested. So far, a total of 32 have been convicted, with the remaining cases pending. Two cases, which were for possession of child pornography, occurred on Disney property, according to police reports. None of the cases involved children or teenagers visiting the parks. Kingsolver, a service manager who oversaw ride repairs at the Magic Kingdom, has pleaded not guilty to soliciting a child for sexual acts and traveling to meet a minor for unlawful sexual activity. He said he thought he was going to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex at a house set up by detectives from the Lake County, Florida, Sheriffs Office, according to police records.

The firstAvengersbutchered the opening weekend record, earning $207 million in its debut weekend and eventually earning $623m in the US and $1.5 billion worldwide, standing tall as the biggest film ever made by someone other than James Cameron . Even if its possible thatAvengers 2wont be quite as big as the first film, there is little doubt that it will be the biggest film of the 2015 summer season and possibly the year depending on how wellStar Wars Episode VII (also Walt Disney) and LionsgatesThe Hunger Games : Mockingjay part IIperforms. With preordained success like that, what do you gain from spilling the beans this early? Everyone who is already the most excited for Avengers 2already knows it is coming and those who dont can be gently reminded sometime around next February, perhaps with a flash Super Bowl commercial. That the marketing department sees fit not just to release official promotional materials such as photos and whatever they have in store for next weeks San Diego Comic Con but also some rather detailed plot information seems frankly pointless. I get the celebratory factor of the SDCC and wouldnt begrudge Marvel putting on a show for the die-hard fans, especially if they actually keep whatever footage they tease officially offline (and I certainly get why Warner Bros./DC Comics feel the need to lay down the gauntlet this year, but thats for another day). But from a coldly financial cost/reward factor, there is absolutely nothing to gain from teasingAvengers: Age of Ultronthis early. The film could conduct a total media blackout and it would still open with over/under $200m next May. All youve done by revealing this much this early is creating the expectation of having to reveal ever more information over the next nine months, to the point where you flirt with having given away the store by May 2015.Putting aside differences of opinion about how much to share how early in a films marketing campaign, is not the whole benefit of having a preordained smash hit film the notion that you shouldnt have to spend as much on marketing to the film to moviegoers, since they are already interested?

This made Brer Fox so furious that Brer Rabbit decided to play another trick on the two, and he began to tell them about a secret “laughing place” that only he knew about. Sure enough, Brer Bear and Brer Fox followed that rabbit right to the foot of a twin oak tree … But instead of finding a laughing place, all Brer Bear found was honeybees. Suddenly, the rotted old tree gave way with a snap and pitched Brer Fox and Brer Bear into a darkened, water-filled cavern, buzzing with hundreds of angry bees. Brer Rabbit laughed and laughed at the prank he’d played on the two scoundrels. Unfortunately for Brer Rabbit, however, he tended to laugh just a little too long at his own joke and before he knew what was happening, Brer Fox captured that hapless hare. Brer Rabbit was dragged by the ears up to the top of Chick-A-Pin Hill, where Brer Fox’s lair was hidden in a hollowed log that jutted out over the mighty Splash Mountain waterfall. Brer Fox threatened to skin Brer Rabbit, and then to roast and eat him. But thinking quickly, Brer Rabbit told Brer Fox to go ahead and do anything with him he wanted, so long as he didn’t throw him over the waterfall into the Briar Patch.

A crunchy chocolate cookie sandwich with dark chocolate ice cream made right there, it’s simply divine. There are 16 flavors, but, seriously, that chocolate-chocolate sensation is a must. Another favorite? The hand-pressed brioche ice cream sandwich. Try something different at the new Morocco Juice Bar at Epcot World Showcase, where the chef is making bold ice cream flavors like chocolate and cinnamon, green tea, pistachio with orange blossom water (our favorite), strawberry and red bean, and toasted almond with rosewater. For a Magic Kingdom pick-me-up, grab the latte iced coffee float at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies in Tomorrowland. (The kids can get a caramel or hot fudge sundae.) At Disneyland Resort , we always make a stop at Clarabelle’s at Disney California Adventure park for the hand-dipped ice-cream bar. Choose vanilla, chocolate or mixed berry sorbet, ask for it dipped in milk or dark chocolate, then add a flourish of toppings like chocolate chips or rainbow sprinkles. Made on the spot while you watch.

SeaWorld takes this technology to a new level, creating the first commercially available consumer product: a refillable plastic cup. Since The Coca-Cola Company introduced PlantBottle technology in 2009 as the first recyclable PET plastic bottle made partially from plants, more than 450,000 barrels of oil have been saved. And, more than 20 billion PlantBottle packages have been distributed in 31 countries worldwide. "Once we fully realized the power of PlantBottle technology, we knew it had real-world, global applications well beyond our own products," said Scott Vitters, general manager, PlantBottle packaging platform, The Coca-Cola Company. "This collaboration with SeaWorld demonstrates that PlantBottle technology can be applied anywhere that PET plastic is traditionally used, but with a lighter footprint on the planet.” Colorful in-park murals and point-of-purchase displays promoting environmental advocacy will help inform park guests of the new product. SeaWorld eventually plans to use Coca-Cola's PlantBottle technology in the manufacture of many of its souvenir cups and is actively exploring opportunities for its potential use in the development of other merchandise. SeaWorld and Coca-Cola have also partnered on two other initiatives that promote conservation and sustainability: - In 2013 SeaWorld introduced the Cup That Cares-- a reusable cup with an embedded RFID chip that interacts with Coca-Cola Freestyle dispensers in the theme parks and calculates the amount of carbon guests keep from the environment by refilling their cups.

Also, as you arrive, please keep in mind that strollers are not permitted inside the amphitheater – the designated stroller parking area is just across from the entrance marquee. Finding the best seat for the show – Every seat in the Fantasyland Theatre will offer a great view of Mickey’s journey through the magical map. However, the most popular section to see the map makers perform would be in the center of the amphitheater. Bringing sweets and eats into the Fantasyland Theatre - A great benefit of the outdoor amphitheater is that food is permitted inside the venue. The Troubadour Tavern is located just outside the Fantasyland Theatre and offers meals like bratwurst and snacks like my personal favorite, pretzel bites with cheese! Planning the best showtime for your visit - “Mickey and the Magical Map” is performed several times throughout the day. What a pleasure to head to the top deck of the Disney Magic for dinner at elegant Palo , where Italian specialties are beautifully prepared in the onstage kitchen. From a plate of beautiful charcuterie served with warm bread from the pizza oven to a sweet finish of chocolate soufflé, Palo is a leisurely dining experience not to be missed (ages 18 and older). We can easily recommend the house-made pastas (the lobster ravioli with mascarpone cream is divine), the grilled seas scallops, the garlic-roasted rack of lamb … Palo’s diverse menu has something for everyone, and the chef will happily accommodate vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free requests. Here’s a new pre-dinner cocktail that we couldn’t resist. It’s one to sip slowly, with a sublime sweetness from the berries and a little tartness from the aged balsamic vinegar. Guests at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort recently had an under the sea surprise as they joined in a ceremony in the main lobby to celebrate Pat Carroll , the voice of Ursula in Disney’s classic animated film, “ The Little Mermaid. ” The resort honored the legendary actress by asking her to add her signature to the feature chandelier’s artful array of 77 animation storyboards. This year marks the 25th anniversary of “The Little Mermaid.” Only a few dignitaries who have made major contributions to the four animated films represented at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort can sign the chandelier storyboard panels. As an added surprise, Walt Disney Imagineer Joni Van Buren, who sculpted the maquette used to create the resort’s giant Ursula icon, joined the fun and even brought her original work to show to guests and Pat. After the ceremony, Pat sat down with us to discuss her love of the Ursula character, the 25-year popularity of “The Little Mermaid” and how the power of great storytelling can captivate film audiences.
